Connect Basin to Perplexity

Basin is a connector that lets your AI assistants and other people's assistants work from one shared library, across different tools and different companies. Setting it up in Perplexity takes a few minutes.

These steps come from Perplexity's own help centre by way of secondary reporting: the help centre returns 403 to automated checks, so nobody here has read the current page. Check Perplexity's settings against what you see.

Before you start

Perplexity adds Basin as a custom remote connector from account settings. Two conditions:

  • A paid plan. Custom remote connectors are on the individual Pro and Enterprise plans.
  • In an organisation, an admin has to allow members to add custom connectors — or can share one across the organisation instead.

Connectors are account-level, so Basin follows you across the app once it is added.

Open the connector form

In Account settings, open All settings, then choose + Custom connector and select Remote.

Fill it in

Give it a name and description, paste the Basin endpoint as the MCP server URL, and set Transport to Streamable HTTP. Under advanced settings choose OAuth 2.0 — Basin supports discovery, so the endpoints and scopes are found for you.

Authenticate and enable it

Confirm the custom-connector warning, add it, then click the Basin card to sign in. Make sure Basin is enabled for the thread you are asking in.

Ajoutez l’instruction permanente

Add one line to your Perplexity instructions, so a thread checks Basin instead of searching the web for something you already saved.

Without it the assistant may not think to look. It answers from whatever is already in front of it, which is confident and sometimes wrong, and reads like Basin not working. Basin is a live connector, not a page it can search for. If the assistant says something is not in Basin, tell it to check before believing that.

Vérifiez la connexion

Une réponse de Basin confirme la connexion. Si votre bibliothèque est vide, c’est normal — l’étape suivante consiste à enregistrer un projet.

If it did not work

It answers from the web instead.Enable Basin for the current thread, and ask something that clearly points at your own project rather than at a topic.
Si Basin n’apparaît pasVérifiez que la connexion s’est bien terminée et que Basin est activé pour cette conversation. Essayez une nouvelle conversation ou rechargez l’outil, puis demandez-lui de consulter Basin à nouveau. Suivez le guide de votre outil si ses réglages diffèrent.
Connecté, mais le projet est introuvable ?Demandez à votre assistant de lire Basin directement. Vérifiez que la conversation précédente a bien enregistré un fichier, que les deux outils utilisent le même compte Basin et que ce compte a accès à l’espace.
Il peut lire, mais pas enregistrer ?Vérifiez que vous avez un accès en modification à l’espace. Une invitation en lecture seule permet à votre assistant de lire le travail partagé.
